A fittingly embarrassing end to the worst world cup in living memory saw Argentina players assault their victorious opponents after the final whistle. Every neutral was pleased to see Spain run out comfortable winners.

On the plus side:
- Cabo Verde in general and Vozhina in particular
- Olivier Giroud passively informing us that we've all been mispronouncing Upamecano (and all commentators then ignoring this and carrying on as before)
- None of the cheats getting their hands on the trophy
- A third place play-off which was one of the better matches
